Hi MegaMBA

INSEAD alumna and former admissions interviewer here. Hope I can add some value to your query.

Your academic arc isn't entirely clear. Did you graduate from a Tier 1 college, an IIT, or a government institute? Given that your GMAT score is average, a strong undergraduate background could potentially provide the necessary boost.

While your international experience is undoubtedly an asset, the trajectory of your professional career over the past eight years lacks clarity. What does your F500 employer do? What's your industry focus?
How can you demonstrate an upward trajectory during the 8-year period? You will be asked this question if you get the shortlist. Supporting your candidacy with evidence of incremental responsibilities due to your exceptional management skills and acumen will significantly strengthen your application.

Your extracurricular activities are also not well-delineated. For engineering professionals pursuing an MBA, it's important to showcase a balanced right-brain mindset and a quest for meaning beyond quantitative achievements. Take the time to reflect on and recall impactful initiatives related to your extracurricular activities. Carefully consider whether you may have overlooked important contributions you've made over the years. These might encompass a wide range of activities, such as traveling, learning new languages, participating in workplace diversity initiatives (e.g., promoting gender equality or workforce diversity), providing financial or emotional assistance to those in need, teaching underprivileged children, organizing diversity-focused discussions or activities to foster better collaboration among teams, and more. Taking a moment for introspection can help you recognize the valuable contributions you've made to your community.

Get tailored advice for your specific situation. Do not hesitate to reach out shoul you need help navigating your unique circumstances in the B School admissions process. We do not cap discussion hours for our applicants

Hello MegaMBA,

I hope you are doing good. Your profile for the INSEAD MBA program is quite strong, and it aligns well with your goal of transitioning into consulting. While a GMAT score of 710 is competitive, it's slightly below the average GMAT score at INSEAD. Consider retaking the GMAT to potentially improve your score, especially if you believe you can perform better. Your GPA of 7.71/10 is reasonable, but it's always good to provide context in your application if your grades improved over the course of your academic career.

Eight years of experience at a Fortune Global 500 company, with experience in leadership roles and managing large teams, is a significant asset. Your international work experience in the Middle East and the USA adds to the diversity of your profile. Your PMP certification demonstrates your project management skills and commitment to professional development, which can be valuable in a consulting career. Your international work experience and global perspective can be a strong selling point for INSEAD, which values diversity and a global outlook among its students.

Ensure your career goals align clearly with the skills and knowledge you aim to gain from the INSEAD MBA program and how you plan to leverage your MBA to transition into consulting. Be specific about why INSEAD is the right school to help you achieve these goals. Craft compelling essays that highlight your unique experiences and contributions. Ensure your recommenders can speak to your leadership potential and suitability for an MBA program.

INSEAD is known for its diversity and global perspective, and your international experience and leadership roles can contribute positively to the school's community. Your application should emphasize your ability to bring a unique perspective to the classroom and your potential to excel in the consulting field. Overall, you have a competitive profile for INSEAD, and with a strong application that addresses the areas mentioned above, you stand a good chance of being admitted to the program.

Good luck with your application!
