Calling all MIT Sloan MBA Applicants: 2024 Intake Class of 2026 : Sloan - Page 8

Aug 24 at 01:24pm

I was wondering the same, until a friend pointed this section out:

Taking the above into consideration, please submit a cover letter seeking a place in the MIT Sloan MBA program. Your letter should conform to a standard business correspondence, include one or more professional examples that illustrate why you meet the desired criteria above, and can be addressed to:

Admissions Committee
50 Memorial Drive
Cambridge, MA 02142

So I basically wrote Dear Admissions Committee

Jojohea wrote:This may seem a silly question, but the cover letter for this upcoming intake doesn't seem to be directed at a specific person (i.e. Assistant Deans of Admissions, Rod Garcia and Dawna Levenson). We're being asked instead to address our letter to "Admissions Committee", but everything I've read about good cover letter practice says to direct your letter to a specific person.

Dawna Levenson is still working in admissions, according to the MIT staff directory. Would it be strange to direct my cover just to her?

P.S. I looked up an application for one of the admitted students from last year from MBA App Store and it started with:

"Dear MIT Sloan Admissions Committee:"

Hi, any thoughts on what specific attributes/characteristics should receive special emphasis in the cover letter to increase the chances
?

Also, did anyone purchase applications from MBA store? Did you find it useful? I wanted to see read a couple of cover letters to understand the tone and structure a bit. Do you guys have any recommendations.

I have 8 years of experience, currently product manager at Coinbase.

Hi

Sorry, wrong chat.

Hi, quick question: Is it okay if I submit 2 org charts instead of just 1? I’m from an unconventional background and while 1 recommender and 1 reference are from one company I worked at professionally, the other reference is from a non-profit I volunteer at. So should I include only the professional org chart or should I do both, 1 per page?

Sep 13 at 11:30am

You only need one reference for LOR and org chart should be from your professional work place only.

The other two references are just, references. They are not linked with lot or org chart.

Adcoms don’t need volunteer work org chart since that’s not your professional work space.

Sep 13 at 11:30am

understood. thank you!

Sep 13 at 11:35am

If my workplace org chart did not detail my position or my supervisor’s role, can I edit it to reflect such?

Sep 13 at 11:41am

You can draw an org chart to show where you and your supervisor are. They don’t want an official org chart as a mandatory thing. Schools understand these things can be confidential as well. These guidelines are on the website as well

Sep 14 at 10:36pm

does anyone know how long each lor question is

Sep 15 at 04:57am

On the general template, it’s 500 words per question but as long as the letter touches the right points I think you can go a good amount lower than that and still be okay.

Sep 17 at 01:49am

do you know the exact questions the recommender receives?

Sep 24 at 03:25am

Can I draw my own org chart? My company does not have any way to generate a comprehensive one like MIT’s sample one.

What are my options if that’s not allowed?

Sep 24 at 03:42am

Hey all, How shoudl we structure Sloan resume?

do we start with education or work experience?
