Hi Everyone! Thanks for joining. We will be having an MIT SLOAN Chat session with a recent MIT Sloan admits in about 10 minutes (right after the AdCOm Zoom Session Ends). You can learn about what worked to get into the program, about the profile of the admitted applicant, and of course ask your questions

Hi, I’m a recent MIT Sloan round 2 admit. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have!

Updated on: Jun 13 at 07:31am

Thoughts on re-application and what to improve? I was waitlisted when I applied in R2 last year.

Also, I would be reapplying to Sloan in R1 and love to connect, if that’s okay with you.

Hey everyone, my name is Ankush and I’ll be happy to answer any questions you have.

Sure, take some time to look at your application and think about what are the weaker parts of your application.

I suggest you to deep dive into what went wrong in your past application. Generally, when adcoms find similar applications with minor differences, they prefer one over the other. Working on getting that extra score on GMAT or a project that shows highly quantitative impact could be a few areas to look upon.

This could be test scores, resumes, extracurriculars, working on your story, or sharing more about how you improved yourself this past year.

No problem BB, thanks for having me!

Jun 13 at 07:35am

Similarly, resume is very important for your app (which many applicants dont focus on). Your application(without resume) should be as impactful as your independent resume.

Jun 13 at 07:36am

Definitely agree with Ankush. Have many eyes on your resume so you can get feedback from different people on how to improve things. This could be wording, adding quantifiers, or format

Sloan is very entrepreneurship oriented. How important is that in an application?

I am also curious what Entrepreneurship resources are available at Sloan - if you know those details? I am wondering esp if I have a 200K student loan - how do I become a startup founder with the debt/etc?

MBA classes want diversity. It just so happens many at Sloan want to pursue entrepreneurship. Just be yourself and it’s okay to say you want to go into consulting or investment banking.

Sloan cares much more about your past achievements as a future predictor of success. Sure, add some details about your future plans, but definitely emphasize your past accomplishments, skills, and experiences more.

At Sloan, there’s the Martin Trust Center with multiple programs to sponsor entrepreneurship. They have fellowships to support you (instead of a traditional internship) during the summers.

As for balancing student loans with being a founder, that’ll be just part of your personal finances you’ll have to budget for. You’ll have a few years of runway. This also depends on your personal situation (family, visas, life goals).

Thank you, looks like I do need to get back to test score as test waiver may have added to the waitlist.

Good self-awareness. Every part of the application is to a chance for you to shine and demonstrate to the Adcom why you deserve to be a part of the class.
