Very strong. Kellogg/Wharton/NYU/UCLA and maybe Duke are good for marketing. Kellogg/NYU/UCLA are best picks for brand management or product management jobs in CPG

FMCG whatever it is this week

That GMAT seems quite high like GSB high; I imagine maybe because applicants with lower scores apply with EA or waiver. Has a cherry 🍒 picking effect on GMAT. Have seen this with a lot of schools offering waivers.

Hi,
Regarding this, I would like to know what roles/industries have the highest % of Indians getting placed out of B schools?

Tech > Startup jobs (various roles) > Consulting > Finance . This is an oversimplified answer of course.

Much less relevant, but during the pre-MBA orientation for careers, this is something I suggest my clients to look at amongst all the different resources - https://builtin.com/

Hi 👋 I am curious- what’s the OPT situation with startups? I have had my former clients join them but only h/s/w so I’m not sure how viable it is for other m7 grads/t10. I feel it’s the best path for a particular client but she’s very worried it won’t be seen as a viable career goal. Trying to find facts to refute this.

OPT Situation as in? Starting your own venture?

Or finding jobs in Startups?

Feel free to DM, I can take it there

Also seen T25 people find jobs in startups so hoping that t10 ones do find them

Hi, if you scroll back to August 6, business conqueror posted a graphic that shows the average GMAT for NYU. It’s pretty high right now and I believe that’s because they have been taking waivers so people who would otherwise be submitting lower test scores are doing waivers. The drives it up. And I think the GMAT you’re looking to get has something to do with the level of competitiveness with regards to your individual profile pool. So I am not making assumptions but if you are like an Indian, then I would probably say 20 points over what the average is and then if you are female, i would probably dial that back to 10 points. This is just my general rule of thumb when I think about school selection with clients. I actually helped a Moroccan woman get into HBS with a 650 because her quant was good enough and I’m sure that there this result indicates there was not a lot of competition/not a huge pool of Morrocan females from a real estate finance background. So unfortunately the recommended GMAT is sort of a complicated thing it relates to your overall Diversity offering and that’s measured by ethnicity, citizenship, gender, work experience, sexual orientation and may be other things I’m not thinking about right now. Like veteran status and first generation college status.

It has been historically high from the looks of it because I have been in this game since pre-covid. But of course feel free to draw your own conclusions. Being an Indian male myself, I am no stranger to the struggles that others may undermine. It is still unreasonable it I am not here to debate that. If schools are not reporting their average EA scores, I recommend bringing this up in virtual info sessions they hold. And I strongly believe those that can identify your struggles and have been in yours shoes - at the program or even graduates - will be a way better and credible source of info.

the GMAT/GRE requirements for Indian candidates is high regardless of other factors. It won’t be a stretch to assume the same about EA

I wonder why supreme court only ruled decision based on only one of the many of these metrics.

We even had open debate about this in business school. I just hope things get better

FWIW I found this. I’ve been at this since 2014.
2021 720
2020 720
2019 721
2018 719
2017 710

Is that the class average?

I’m mostly referring to international candidates GMAT score esp from India, which has been historically high

It’s great to see you’ve been in this game since 2014.

yes

I see - well the required score for Indians has gone up too. I got an Indian IT male with no ECs into NYU in 2014 with a 730 which was really solid back then.

Historically high & gone up. Exactly! I don’t know when they’ll fix it but for the very least it is certain that higher scores are expected.

Still would want to look at OR candidates average of the whole class. Definitely gone up, but historically high. I don’t know if the COVID time GMAT waivers had much to do with this increase though. I do know that COVID did cause a shift in some things

I do look at it positively though. We were definitely considered smart in the program and the value added was unquestionable. Always appreciate the positive!

I can speak to this phenomena with a lot of certainty, because when I look at the average GMAT scores for all the programs where they offered a waiver, they inevitably bumped up significantly.

In order to be eligible to apply, all applicants must receive a TOEFL score of at least 100, a IELTS score of at least 7, or a Duolingo English Test score of at least 120.

Yeah I also read this but in Master of Accounting section, is it inferred that that minimum score also apply to MBA Program?

Oh crap sorry I didn’t realize it was for that program. Just contact admissions, I think, if there’s nothing clearly stated online.
