ENLIGHTENED TO IDENTITY
Knowing Our True Identity In Christ Is Essential to Release Us Into Kingdom Living and Divine Destiny.
Since the beginning, when God made mankind in His image, the Devil has been trying to “kill, steal, and destroy” (Jn 10:10) the image of God in every person (Gen 1:26-27) and to usurp man’s authority and dominion (Lk 4:6). Jesus came and took back all authority, defeated death, destroyed all the works of the devil, and established the church to prevail against the gates of hell (Jn 5:26-27, 1 Cor 15:55-57, 1 Jn 3:8, Mat 16:18). In becoming man, the second Adam, Jesus also restored dominion and authority back to mankind through Himself (Mat 28:18, Rom 5:17, Phil 2:9-11). He came so that all who believe in Him have the right to become the children of God (Jn 1:12). Paul wrote that being enlightened to our adoption (Eph 1:18) we move from a spirit of slavery to fear to a spirit of adoption by which we cry out, Abba Father (Rom 8:15).
Enlightened to our identity as sons and daughters we can walk in complete authority over the Devil, all works of evil (Lk 9:1; 10:19), and the sin and sickness they produce (Jn14:12). It is our right as sons and daughters and heirs to once again re-present the image of God to all creation and exercise kingdom authority, power and dominion; Jesus Christ as the Head of the body and all things being subjected under His feet (Eph 1:20-23). Enlightened to our calling and heavenly position we see ourselves as God sees us; as friends not servants, as adopted, not as slaves, as royalty, not paupers. We no longer live in the powerlessness of unbelief but with renewed minds (Rom12:2, Eph 4:23) we by faith see ourselves seated together with Him in the heavens (Watchman Nee). We live and discover our destiny according to His power working in us (Eph 3:20).
