Dear diganta.banerjee,

First things first – without a valid and competitive GMAT Score in excess of 700, your chances of getting into a global MBA program such as ISB is low. Hence, if you are serious about your admission prep, channelize all your energies to get that high score and then think of other non-tangible aspects. Your concern about low academic scores is legit, but do realize that a good GMAT score is one of the most straight forward ways to address this concern.

To answer your second question, ~90% of Indian applicants who go abroad to study take a student loan and have this genuine concern of whether they will be able to land a job post the course. Mostly, they do. However, unlike in India (for that matter ISB) where placements are almost a spoon feeding exercise, globally you will have to navigate the recruitment landscape (first internship and then a fill time role) via a mix of networking steadfast persistence, and hard-work from Day 1 (there will no per-say placement week).

AML=Anti-Money Laundering ?? If yes, experience in this industry can be a demonstrated as a highlight of your profile specially considering today’s investment landscape that is marred by compliance, governance and other such concerns.

I am an ISB alum, CO15, and have been guiding applicants in their admission journeys for the last 6 years. Whenever you are ready to start your application and require guidance, please feel free to reach out and seek professional mentorship.

Cheers and all the best!

👋 Hey diganta.banerjee,

I came across your profile evaluation query on the forum and thought I'd reach out to offer some assistance from my own experience.

So here is what I would suggest:

Strengths:

➡️ Work Experience: Your experience in AML for US Mortgage could serve as a unique selling proposition. Handling projects and leading a team of 20 people will surely add weight to your leadership abilities.

➡️ Community Involvement: Your volunteer work during your first MBA indicates a level of social responsibility that could make you an interesting candidate.

Areas for improvement:

➡️ Low Graduation Percentage: The 45.45% in your graduation is a red flag that could raise questions about your academic rigor.

➡️ First MBA: Already having an MBA could raise questions on why a second one is needed.

Suggestions:

➡️ High GMAT Score: A 720+ score could offset your low undergraduate GPA to some extent.

➡️ Clarify Need for Second MBA: You need to convincingly articulate why a second MBA is necessary for your career progression.

If you need more help, we'd be happy to set up a FREE call and give more pointers on how to improve your profile and the right schools you should target.

Hello diganta.banerjee,

Hope this finds you well.

Please do not let the thought of "whether you will be able to get in" hamper your GMAT prep. Scoring in excess of 700 will be crucial for you to get into any reputed MBA program; needless to say, the higher the score, the better it is going to be. Further, the worry about a job at this point will only prove to be detrimental.

Your focus should be on getting as high a score as you can; a high GMAT score may even help you offset your low undergrad score to a certain extent; once the test is out of the way, you should focus on shortlisting schools where you stand a good chance of getting an admit; this should be followed up with strong application essays; thereafter you may focus on the job prospects. :-)

Our strong recommendation is to take it one step at a time and consider getting formal application help if needed.

Should you wish to have a detailed discussion in this regard, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

All the best!
