SPJIMR PGPM 2024 interview call : S P Jain Institute

Jun 13 at 07:45am

Hi, is there anyone who has received an interview call for R1 applications? I applied in the last week of May and haven't heard from them yet. The website says the interview calls will be out by 15 June. I am worried.

I had applied much earlier. Haven't got any mailer yet. Waiting this week. Fingers crossed!!

Even I had applied in R1 but no reply or update from them. I called them, they said they will update till mid-june.
I have 750 in GMAT and not getting shortlisting can be a mental disaster :P

Same here. I had also applied pretty earlier but they haven't sent any mailer regarding shortlisting yet.

I called them today on their support number... They said it is being released as per they are processing the applications and you will hear something around this month end or by the 1st week of July.

Hey. Of course happy to help!

So I had 2 interviews. Both were group interviews. Both were quite interesting and the faculty does make understand that one might be nervous and helps in making you more comfortable.

I was paired up with 3 other people who had selected ops , finance & GM as specializations. I had also selected GM.2 lady panelists. Started the interview with questions around briefly talk about yourself and mention some thing not on your CV. They went through one candidate after the other. They then took turns in asking questions to the ops candidate on why ops , why mba , some technical questions around what could be the challenges faced in ops while setting up a business in the mountains. I was asked about my domain as well as organization shifts. Challenges faced in the next 5 years for HR professionals (I am in HR). What do I expect to gain out of PGPM. One common thing to keep in mind is when the others were referring to the the people they worked with they mentioned "He" where in one of the panelists immediately caught that point and asked if there were only men in the company to make a point about being more inclusive. Use "They" instead of he or she. Also please understand what they are asking as one candidate was repeatedly interrupted as he was giving an answer that he would have prepared but that was not being asked. He didn't get selected eventually. For me the last question was why does a luxury handbag (Non Indian) cost more in india than outside (since I come from a retail background). The others were also asked about things around diff between debt and equity , diff between IPO and FPO. One question they asked was to another candidate was around what he has done additionally apart from applying to prepare for the interviews.

Once this was done we were taken to a breakout room where we waited for 30 minutes before they announced the results of who would be going to Rd. 2. A mailer was also sent 30 mins later.

Rd 2 was again a group interview where the interviewees along with me had a similar background. I am assuming that was the case for the other groups as well. Panel was 2 members 1 lady and 1 gentleman. Here the format was different. They posed a question to all of us and we were to answer one by one. Started of with a brief about yourself. Then moved onto why MBA since for us (HR) there was no specialization. "How would you describe yourself". "One negative trait that can be used to reject your candidature". "Tell me about your role in your organization" The last question was a situation which was given and our reactions to the same were checked. It was around being caught by the cops on your way back riding a bike from a party. If one is caught by the breathalyzer what should be the next course of action. We answered and the interviewer kept upping the consequences everytime such as lockup , permanent record etc. and checked what we were answering.

Hope this helps you guys. Best of luck to you all. Stay confident and ace your interviews.

Thanks AM66 for your debrief. Just another question. As you mentioned one of the interviewees got eliminated in Round 1 itself, the other 3 who qualified were again grouped together in Round 2 or there was a change in the group?

So in Rd 1 our entire group was about 16 ppl out of which we all were sent to different breakout rooms in groups of 3-4 ppl.

Although during Rd 2 the larger group was same , the combinations for interview were different.

P.s . I got a mail for 2.30 during the grouping I was told that as per their list my interview will be at 3.30. So I joined in with the other group at 3.30 who seemed to have been together in the first.

In brief - The large group may be similar but the interview group may be different.

Hey Sancharey & MananShah070296, could you guys please share your interview debriefs? Thanks a lot.

Jul 15 at 09:36pm

Hey sure. My interview went really well. The panel (3 males) was quite encouraging and supportive. They have no intention to grill you, but just want to know you better.
R1 was technical. Tell me about yourself, why MBA, how will your background help in your future plans, and also gave me a scenario type question (to design the marketing strategy of Indian National Congress for the upcoming general elections 2024 - this question because of my professional background in journalism and elections).

R2 didn't seem like an interview but rather a friendly chat with 2 female professor. We discussed our goals and aspirations, and two other topics like office politics and workplace gender biases.

These were all the questions that came to me. Hope this helps. All the best!
