STATEMENT OF FAITH

1. God the King and the Trinity

WE BELIEVE that God is the Eternal Creator and King. He is infinite, unchangeable, perfect in holiness, wisdom, goodness, justice, power, and love. He exists as the one True God in three persons; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit equal in power and glory. (Deuteronomy 33:27; Romans 1:20; Psalm 95:3; Isaiah 43:15; Psalm 147:5; James 1:17; Matthew 5:48; 1 Peter 1:15-16; Psalm 104:24; Proverbs 2:6; Exodus 33:19; Psalm 31:19; Psalm 33:5; Psalm 89:14; Isaiah 30:18; Exodus 15:6; 1 John 4:8; Isaiah 43:13; Isaiah 45:5; 1 Corinthians 8:4; Jeremiah 10:10; John 1:18; John 10:30; John 14:9; John 14:16-17; John 14:26; John 15:26; John 1:1; John 1:14; 2 Corinthians 3:17; Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Revelation 5:13; Ephesians 3:14-21)

2. Jesus Christ the Mediator and Eternal King

WE BELIEVE Jesus Christ is our Mediator and Eternal King. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. Jesus was anointed as God’s Messiah, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and inaugurated God’s kingdom reign on earth. He lived a perfect life, died on the cross to atone for sin, rose from the dead on the third day, ascended to heaven, and rules at the right hand of the Father from where He will return and reign forever. (Mark 1:15; Galatians 4:4; John 1:14; John 1:17-18; Luke 1:30-35, Philippians 2:5-7; Romans 5:19; 1 Corinthians 15:22; 1 Peter 2:22, 2 Corinthians 5:21; Luke 3:21-22; Luke 4:1-21; Luke 4:40-43; Mark 1:14-15; Luke 11:20; Luke 17:20-21; Luke 9:1-2; John 1:29; John 6:51; Mark 8:31; 1 Corinthians 15:3-5; Galatians 3:13-14; Acts 3:14-15; Hebrews 4:15; Romans 5:18-19; 1 Peter 2:24; Romans 2:12; 2 Thessalonians 1:6-10; Colossians 2:13-15; Matthew 9:27; Acts 2:24-36; Romans 1:1-4; Hebrews 1:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:24-26; Ephesians 1:19-23; Revelation 1:17-18)

3. The Ministry of the Holy Spirit

WE BELIEVE in the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity. The Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, and indwells every believer acting as a Helper, Teacher, and Guide. The Holy Spirit was poured out on the Church at Pentecost in power, baptizing the believers into the body of Christ, and releasing the gifts of the Spirit in them. We believe in the filling of the Spirit for power and present exercise of all of the biblical gifts of the Spirit. The Spirit empowers and gifts those whom God has ordained to lead, serve, and build up the church to advance the kingdom of God and drive back the kingdom of Satan. (John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Cor. 6:19; Rom. 12:6-8, I Corinthians 12:4-11; I Corinthians 12:28-31; I Corinthians 13:8-9; I Corinthians 14:1-40; Ephesians 4:11-13; Hebrews 2:3-4; Acts 2:1-4; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 5:18-20; Romans 12:4-6; Luke 11:20; 1 John 3:8b; John 14:12-13; Romans 15:18-19; 1 Corinthians 4:20, Romans 8:9-10; John 16:7; John 14:26; John 16:13-15; Romans 8:14; Luke 24:49; Acts 4:31; 1 Corinthians 2:4-5; 2 Corinthians 4:7; 2 Corinthians 6:4-7; Joel 2:28-29; Acts 2:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 5:19-21; Acts 8:14-17; Acts 19:6; Mark 16:16-18; Acts 13:1-3; 1 Timothy 4:14; 2 Timothy 1:6)

4. The Sufficiency of Scripture

WE BELIEVE that the Holy Spirit inspired the human authors of Holy Scripture so that the Bible is without error in the original manuscripts. We receive the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments as our final, absolute authority, and only perfect rule for faith, life, and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21; 1 Corinthians 2:12-13; Psalm 19:7-9; Psalm 119:89; Matthew 5:17-18; John 3:34; John 10:35; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; Revelation 22:6; Luke 24:44; 2 Peter 3:15-16; Revelation 22:18-19; Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 24:35; Matthew 7:24; James 1:22-25)

5. Mankind and The Kingdom

WE BELIEVE that God created mankind in His own image for relationship with Himself and to govern the earth. Because of sin all became separated from God, totally depraved, subject to God’s judgment, captive to Satan’s kingdom, and in need of a savior. Salvation is by grace alone through faith based on the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Only those who genuinely trust Christ and are born again receive forgiveness of sin, are reconciled to God, and enter the Kingdom of God. (Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 3:1-8; Romans 1:21; Romans 5:9-16; 1 Corinthians 15:22; John 8:44; 1 John 5:19; Psalm 51:5; Ezekiel 18:4; Romans 2:5; Romans 2:12; Hebrews 9:27; Galatians 4:8-9; Colossians 1:13 Romans 3:23,5:12 Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 6:23, John 3:14-18, John 10:27-30, 1 Corinthians 3:11-15, Jude 24-25)

6. The Church

WE BELIEVE the Church of God is a fellowship of believers. All who repent of their sins, confess personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, and are regenerated by the Holy Spirit are members of the Body of whom Christ is Head. We practice water baptism and the Lord’s Supper as committed to us by Jesus Christ and instructed in the Scriptures; open to all who believe. (John 17:20-21; Ephesians 4:3-6; Matthew 16:17-18; 1 Corinthians 1:2; Ephesians 1:22; Ephesians 2:18-19; Titus 3:4-7; Romans 12:4-5; Ephesians 5:23; Matthew 28:19-20; 1 Corinthians 10:14-17; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Colossians 1:18; Acts 8:12)

7. The Freedom and Unity of the Gospel

WE BELIEVE the power of the ‘Gospel of the Kingdom’ gives freedom from the domain of the devil, the world, the flesh, and the Law. Living in this freedom manifests itself as unity in the church and as right relationships with God and others in our lives. In the Spirit of Christ we allow for minor doctrinal differences and offer life and freedom to one another on matters of belief and faith where Bible believing Christians and historical Christianity allow for a variety of interpretations. (John 17:22-23; Galatians 5:1; 2 Corinthians 3:4-6; Ephesians 4:1-3; 1 John 5:19; Ephesians 2:1-5; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Acts 28:31; John 3:5-8; 1 Peter 1:23; Romans 8:15; Galatians 4:6; 1 John 4:13-15)
